Traveling on US 40 between Nashville and Knoxville I detoured to get a closer look at this mountain top cross near Cookeville, TN. When I got to the base of the cross their was no information available.
This cross is not as big as the one outside of Effingham, Illinois, but it is certainly as impressive. The one in Illinois rises from a flat landscape and this on from a mountain top. Another plus in regard to the Illinois cross is the presentation at the base:
